Robert J. Duminiak has been an associate with Howson & Howson since 2004.  Mr. Duminiak's practice is focused in counseling individuals, universities, and companies in patent prosecution/procurement, transfer/license, and management of intellectual property portfolios.  He has been involved in the protection of technologies in pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, and life sciences worldwide, with emphasis in vaccines, vectors, and small molecule cancer therapeutics.  Further, his trademark/service mark practice includes marks for general business applications, medical devices, and pharmaceutical preparations.

Mr. Duminiak also represents clients in adversary proceedings, including both administrative proceedings (e.g., before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board) and in the Federal Courts.  In the Spring of 2009, he completed his final trial in completion of his Master of Laws (LL.M.) degree in Trial Advocacy at the Temple University School of Law.  Completion of the nationally recognized degree program requires extensive coursework in case theory, persuasive speaking, litigation strategy, damages, motions practice, complex litigation, advanced evidence, and trial technique, each taught by prominent trial attorneys and experts in related disciplines.  The program included advanced hands-on training and both lay and expert critique in deposition practice, focus groups and jury selection, expert testimony, courtroom technology, and trial practice.  Mr. Duminiak tried five simulated jury trials (including one solo trial), with and against lawyers from across the country ranging in experience from junior associates and prosecutors through veteran trial lawyers.  Trials addressing a range of causes of action (products liability/medical negligence through breach of contract) were conducted before, and verdicts reached by, juries from the Philadelphia area selected by the LL.M. faculty.

He earned his Bachelor's Degree in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at The Pennsylvania State University, where he assisted in researching B- and T-cell immunotoxins as vehicles for treating disease and in researching the role of lipoxygenases in plant hypersensitivity responses.  He earned his law degree at Temple University School of Law. While at Temple, he was admitted to the Patent Bar and completed both Temple's Integrated Trial Advocacy Program and an internship with the Camden County, New Jersey Prosecutor's Office.
